The Government of Telangana may have its own satellite to telecast channels, which would be against the recommendation of the telecom regulator TRAI forbidding states to have their own TV channels or distribution platforms like cable TV networks, though the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has still not given its nod to this recommendation.

The telecom regulator TRAI has extended the last date for receiving proposals to establish ‘pay-as-you-go PDOs’ under its pilot project. The new date to submit proposals is 31 July 2017. The date was extended following the request from the stakeholders. Earlier, the last date was 25 July.

Big FM radio has launched 4 new stations to cover the North-East states. The network launched three 92.7-frequency stations, one each in Agartala, Itanagar and Aizawl, and a 98.3-frequency station in Shillong. Big FM bought these frequencies at the FM Phase III auctions.

DD invites public to design its new logo

Now, the broadcaster has called for entries from the public seeking a new logo design to improve the look. DD wants to create something youthful in a bid to tap the ‘children of liberalisation’ with its new logo.

According to Crisil Research, mobile data usage will grow a moderate 12% annually and touch 2-2.5 GB per user in the five fiscals through 2022. The report also added that the data usage will stabilize after 2022. It said from 2012 to 2017, India’s mobile data usage per subscriber rocketed at 80% annually to around 1.25 GB per month on increasing adoption of 3G and 4G services, free data offered by Reliance Jio, and a sharp 40% fall in tariffs in the past fiscal alone.
