As per media sources, heavily debt-laded telecom operator Aircel will soon file for Bankruptcy at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The Malaysian parent company Maxis, run by businessman Ananda Krishnan, had earlier proposed a cash infusion to support the debt-laden company but has then decided against it. The leading direct to home (DTH) operator Tata Sky’s customers will not be able to watch a number of channels, as the operator has issued a notice stating that it will discontinue 10 channels from its platform for a variety of reasons. These channels will be discontinued three weeks from the date of publication of the notice.
The DTH operator Sun Direct, which has also been ramping up its HD channel offering and currently offers 59 HD channels, has added eight new standard definition (SD) channels to its list of offerings, thus taking the total number of SD channels to 219.
The DTH operator Airtel Digital TV has received the notice from Star TV for non-signing of the subscription agreement, non-payment of subscription fees and non-submission of subscribers reports.
Recently Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma raised a concern regarding the entry of WhatsApp in digital money transaction. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the body that manages the UPI railroads, has now clarified: “Currently, NPCI has given its consent to roll out WhatsApp BHIM UPI beta launch with limited user base of 1 million and low per transaction limit.”
