The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) is planning to send national film awards by post to those who boycotted the recently held ceremony as the President did not personally handover all awards to the recipients. This was the first time that the function, held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, was divided into two phases. While some awards were given by the President, the rest were handed by the I&B Minister Smriti Irani and MoS Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
As per MIB sources, "The ministry is contemplating to send the National Film Awards to those who missed the function, through post. A decision regarding it will be taken soon."
The ministry may send citations, medals and cheques to over 50 absentee awardees at the 65th National Film Awards this year, through post.
The National Film Awards were presented on May 3.
