Some channels were literally seen campaigning for certain political parties even on the day before the elections when officially political parties were not allowed. The biggest media story of years unfolded in 2017 when finally Disney decided to take over Rupert Murdoch’s 21 Century Fox including Star Network and stakes in Tata Sky. Murdoch however, has retained his News Network with him. Experts are already speculating its impact on the International as well as Indian Media scene. In 2014, PM Modi, while campaigning for elections, made 2G scams as the biggest issue and ultimately this even brought down the UPA govt making Modi as the PM. However, strangely the final verdict of the CBI court in 2G scam case acquitted all including former telecom Minister A Raja and Kanimozhi, daughter of the DMK Supremo who allegdly received 200 crores in her company Kalaignar TV as a kickback.
