According to ABI Research, global revenues from pay TV have grown from approximately $150 billion to $250 billion in the past five years alone. But in this dynamic environment, service providers and media companies also face new challenges. These challenges come from new low cost competitors launching Over-the-top services, new devices and rising price of premium content.
CQ : What are your latest products displayed in Convergence India 2014?
Patrick : We are showcasing our MPEG-4 SD Chip for Digital STBs in the Indian Market. This is a highly advanced-chip with 55 nm design, 450 MHz and 32 bit core and RISC processor, Graphic User Interface(GUI) can be custom designed for the user on this chip. It is supported by many advanced security system like NDS, NSTP, Sumavision etc. We are producing chips for Cable Networks as well as Satellite TV supporting DVB-C and DVB-S2.
CQ : You have spent more than two years in the Industry in India. How has your experience been so far in the Indian market?
Andrew : Our journey has really been very tough till now, with the market completely fragmented and demanding extremely low cost. Due to fragmentation of the last mile, cable networks are very small and it becomes a problem to convince operators to invest in value added services. Some operators do not understand the long term value of their n etworks.
