Prospects of Indian Animation Industry  

Things are really picking up in the Indian animation industry, and its being taken seriously by all its global contenders like Korea, Taiwan & the Philippines. There are many things that give it that extra edge: mainly the deliberate effort to develop its skilled manpower, ensuring that the studios have the relevant infrastructure in hardware & software, and lastly, the competitive pricing! All of this and much more is putting India at centre stage as a significant outsourcing provider, which is why we have global studios like Walt Disney & Cartoon network off-shoring their animation content to India. But what's even better is that there is a focused effort to produce local original content, be it in terms of leveraging its rich heritage of traditional literature to develop content like My Friend Ganesha or supplying the national thriving entertainment sector with content for Indian television channels, feature films, advertisements, etc. This will obviously mean that that much more talent is required to come in to fulfill these in-house and off-shore demands. This is why developing a solid work force with the requisite skill set is extremely crucial for the Indian animation industry. Apart from the rest, Penguins of Madagascar on Nick was also off shored to an Indian animation co.
