To give impetus to the Government’s ambitious plan Digital India, the telecom regulator TRAI is in favour of 100 MB free data to users in rural and remote areas; it also wants to boost connectivity and local language content to enable rural people better connect with the rest of India.
Displacing You Broadband, Hathway Cable & Datacom, the leading cable TV and broadband service provider, has now become the fifth largest wired broadband service provider in the country for the month ending 30 September, as per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) telecom subscription data report.
The leading broadband service provider ACT Fibernethas added 7 more cities in Andhra Pradesh. These cities are: Vijayawada, Vizag, Guntur, Nellore, Tirupati, Eluru and now Rajahmundry. ACT has introduced four broadband plans bundled with free subscription, free wifi routers and additional data offers. Currently, ACT covers 12 cities in the country.
In a major deal, Broadband service provider ACT Fibernet has reached an agreement with the Indian Super League (ISL) club Bengaluru FC to provide broadband connectivity to the club. The project includes providing internet access across the stadium offices, media rooms, fan zones and more, which will enable fans, media partners, officials and players to interact and stay connected at an incredible internet speed.
To further offer better customer services, the telecom major Bharti Airtel will now allow them to carry forward their unused monthly data. Airtel has launched the ‘Data Rollover’ facility which will ensure that Airtel home broadband customers never waste any data that they pay for and continue enjoying a great online experience.
After creating a landmark success with its free 4G mobile service in September 2016, Reliance Jio is expected to launch its TV and fiber broadband early next year. Starting with 30 cities initially, RJio will try to tap over 100 million TV households across these cities, including Tier II and III.
The broadband solutions will be one of the key focus areas at the 26th edition of Scat a technology trade event for the cable TV industry, to be held during 12-14 October in Mumbai. According to organizer’s claim, 350 brands will exhibit their products including international exhibitors from 18 countries.
India’s third largest internet service providers, ACT Fibernethas almost doubled the data limits across broadband plans in Delhi at no extra cost. ACT Fibernet has with 1.23 million customers, and been offering doubled data limits for all the broadband plans in Delhi starting from September.
Atria Convergence Technologies is going to invest close to Rs 700-Cr in FY2017-18, and will be expanding its broadband business in the southern region and outside. With presence in 11 Indian cities, Atria will add 3-4 more cities. Having stepped into the Delhi market, the private equity-backed company is planning to invest Rs 100 crore in the city.
After adding millions of mobile phone customers with its initial high speed free data, Reliance Jio is once again going to play the disruptive game in home broadband sector with its JioFiber which may offer customers 100 GB of data for Rs 500. Currently, operators in this segment offer about half that data at double the price. As per media reports, the service will be launched this Diwali.
