Reliance Jio’s much anticipated broadband platform Jio GigaFiber has slashed its security deposit to Rs 2500 from Rs. 4500. To bring the deposit down, RJio has brought a new version of its optical network terminal (ONT) device "Gigahub Home Gateway" for Jio GigaFiber broadband service.
The internet penetration in rural India is much more than expected, as per Indian Readership Survey Data (for Q1 2019). The report added that despite the sharpest increase being in the digital sector (as compared to data released in 2017), print and television have been holding strong to their positions, strengthening their reach.
As per various media reports, the Mukesh Ambani owned telecom operator Reliance Jio will offer under JioGigaFiber project, broadband-landline-TV combo service for only Rs. 600 a month. Also, users will be able to connect up to 40 devices to its smart home network for up to Rs. 1,000.
According to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) data for the period – January 2019, Bharati Airtel added 0.997 crore (9.97 million, 99.7 lakh) wireless subscribers, and successfully pushed back Reliance Jio which added 0.932 crore (9.32 crore, 93.2 lakh) subscribers in the same period.
With the partnership between country’s leading fibre broadband provider ACT Fibernet and global OTT major Netflix, ACT’s existing and new customers who select from the newly launched 6-month and 12-month ‘Entertainment’ plan variants will be able to seamlessly pay for their monthly Netflix subscription through their ACT Fibernet bill.
