Cable and broadand service provider Hathway launched a new Hindi movie channel called Hathway CCC Cine Channel on its all India distribution network. The channel is available on Channel No.110 in Hyderabad, Channel No. 309 in Bangalore and Channel No. 112 in the rest of India on Hathway's cable digital network.
Soft drinks giant PepsiCo and youth MTV India joined hands in a first of its kind alliance to launch a 24-hour indie Pop channel ‘Pespi MTV indie’. It will air locally sourced pop music from leading local languages. The companies said for both of them this is the first instance of such a tie-up anywhere in the world. The channel will be available on TV, mobile, web, and at other on-ground live events. MTV India is a part of Viacom 18 in India.
Zee News Media Corp (ZMCL) to expand its presence in the regional news channel space has launched its new channel in Odisha which known as Zee Kalinga. Zee Kalinga replaces Telugu language Zee 24 Gantalu, which discontinued its operation in November 2013 as Zee News found the Andhra Pradesh market to be highly competitive. In January this year, ZMCL decided to move into Odisha with Zee Kalinga.
Viacom18, the 50:50 joint venture between Viacom Inc. and Network18, is launching its second GEC Rishtey in January in India. First launched in the UK in September last year, the free-to-air channel telecasts re-runs of Colors’ (Viacom18’s flagship channel) popular and old shows including Jai Shri Krishna, Bairi Piya and Jeevan Saathi for now.
Chennai-based New Generation Media Corporation, run by one of the promoters of SRM Group of Companies, decided to launch a 24×7 English news channel, its plans have run into troubled waters with reports that the group is not serious about launching the channel and is shutting down its Delhi and Chennai offices.
Gujarat-based Neesa group of companies has decided to launch an English news channel, following its Hindi news channel Jano Duniya, which was launched in February, 2013. The new channel has obtained a licence and the company plans to launch the channel in the first quarter of FY 2013-14.
