TRAI noted that Bharti Telemedia is forcefully offering a bouquet of free-to-air (FTA) channels with no choice to subscribers, without their consent and with no additional NCF. This is in addition to the channels that the subscribers have opted for.
The notice also said that the consumers are not able to contact the toll-free number of the DTH operator most of the time to express their grievance. TRAI also issued the direction after receiving complaints and inspecting the website of Bharti Telemedia. The consumer premises were also inspected by TRAI officials on the received complaints.
TRAI asked the DTH platform to resolve the two issues and report compliance as per the new regulatory framework within five days from the date of issue of this direction.
