He said: “DD’s free-to-air DTH Service DD Free Dish covers the entire country, including backward and rural areas. DD Free Dish Platform presently carries 94 SD TV channels.”
As per Prasar Bharati’s information, there are 635 TV transmitters (612 analog and 23 Digital) of varying capacity located in various parts of the country, including backward and rural areas of the country. He said.
Javadekar said Prasar Bharati has informed that consequent upon the rationalisation of Doordarshan Analog Terrestrial Transmitters, a decision has been taken to hand over closed television transmitter/transposer setups to co-located to All India Radio setups.
He said: “Additional staff available on closure of some DD setups pursuant to rationalisation has been posted at the vacant positions in AIR Stations as per requirement for effective broadcasting.”
