BBC & Discovery acquire UKTV

The UKTV transaction has been completed as one of the two buyers Discovery formally takes over control of lifestyle channels Really, Home and Good Food, and the other buyer BBC Studios take over entertainment channels Alibi, Dave, Drama, Eden, Gold, W and Yesterday, the UKTV brand, as well as the digital service UKTV Play.

BBC Studios is a commercial subsidiary of the BBC.

BBC Studios president, UK, Ireland UKTV new CEO Marcus Arthur commented, “UKTV has always been vital part of the BBC Group, creating value for licence fee payers and British program-makers. UKTV’s award-winning brands, innovative commissions, and premium acquisitions have delivered large and loyal audiences who love great TV. Discovery EVP General Manager UK and ANZ James Gibbons added, “This is a milestone for Discovery, as we welcome UKTV’s lifestyle channels to our substantial UK portfolio.
