BARC TV viewership report for week 46: Star Plus reaches top; Ayodhya verdict gives a push to news channels

As per BARC data for week 46, the Supreme Court‘s verdict on 9th November helped TV news channels boost their total viewership. Top 5 Hindi news channels saw their weekly impressions crossing the 10 crore mark with Aaj Tak recording 17.8 crore impressions.

The TV impressions in week 46 remained unchanged at 14.4 billion while the TV + OOH impressions increased to 14.6 billion.

In urban + rural HSM, ABP News has replaced India TV in the second position, while India TV and News18 India have slipped to the third and fourth positions respectively.

The report said that ABP News has moved to the second position in both urban as well as rural markets. In urban HSM, ABP News has jumped to the second spot while News18 India and India TV have slipped to the third and fourth positions respectively. 

In rural HSM, Republic Bharat has jumped to the third position pushing India TV and News18 India down to the fourth and fifth positions respectively.

As per report, top 5 English news channels also witnessed a spike in their weekly impressions. The pecking order, though, remained unchanged.

Star Plus has reclaimed the Hindi GEC top spot after 8 weeks in the urban HSM. SET has dropped to the fourth position while Colors has moved up to the third position. The rest of the table remained unchanged.

Top 10 Hindi GECs in rural HSM -The pecking order remained unchanged.

Across genres top 10 channels -Star Plus and Sony Sab swapped positions. Colors and SET exchanged positions. Zee Kannada replaced Nick at the tenth position.
