As Bhojpuri is a low ARPU market, the channel is priced at Rs. 0.10. Apart from pay distribution platforms, the channel will also be available on DD Free Dish.
Initially, Zee Biskope’s library will have 300+ movies and the focus is on the recent releases in the past three years. The channel has identified male and family as key TGs and is targeting them with various properties.
Zee Biskope business head Amarpreet Singh Saini said: “Bhojpuri market is growing in leaps and bounds. The Bhojpuri market has grown by 85% over the last three years compared to Hindi GECs which have grown by 40%.”
He added: “70% of the content consumption in the Bhojpuri market is local. Movie consumption is very high. On Big Ganga, we have a movie band which does exceptionally well. There is a room for another channel to come and be the market leader. That led to the conviction that we should be out there instead of underserving our audience. Instead of just having two movie bands on a GEC why not create a dedicated movie channel.”
