Due to lockdown caused by Corona, the newspaper companies in Mumbai said they would release only online versions, as hawkers are unable to distribute print versions.

The list includes Times Of India, Hindustan Times, The Hindu, and Mid-Day among others.

Hindustan Times editor Sukumar Ranganathan posted on his Twitter account: “There is no physical edition of HT in Mumbai today on account of restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of Covid-19 that have made it difficult for our distribution partners to deliver newspapers. There is, however, an e-paper edition at https://t.co/c1y2BpIZFH.”

The Hindi Mumbai posted on its official Twitter handle: “Dear readers, in light of the restrictions implemented in Mumbai to curb the outbreak of #coronavirus, we regret to inform you that your favourite newspaper will not be available in the city on Monday. You can still read us online, and check our Twitter/Facebook handles for regular updates.”

Mid-Day said, “With the state government putting in place restrictions on movement as a precautionary measure to tide over the challenging times we find ourselves in, we are prioritising the safety and well-being of our vendors and deliverymen. We will continue, of course, to bring you credible, verified and well-researched news and entertaining features, Monday through Sunday, like we always have.”
