The popular digital platform of Malaysia LetsOTT.com entered India on 23 June. The platform aims to bridge the gap between the content on digital platforms and the issues of its end users. As digital content viewing is growing in rural India, a research has found that it is Reliance Jio which is spurring this phenomenal growth. According to a survey by Counterpoint Research on India’s OTT video content market, Jio is the most popular network among OTT users in India, followed by Airtel and Vodafone Idea.
Dailyhunt, the Bengaluru-based news and local language content app, has bought Local Play, which is also a Bengaluru-based hyperlocal video & news content app. Dailyhunt believes this will help it in its aggressive strategy of attracting new users, especially in tier 2, 3 and 4 Indian cities and towns.
As per claims made by social media platform Facebook, its OTT platform Facebook Watch registered 87 per cent growth in its daily visitors. The daily visitors’ figure has touched 140 million this year. Also, the number of viewers visiting Facebook Watch every month has increased to more than 720 million this year.
