Om Prakesh Puri died on 06th Jan, 2017 due to a massive heart attack at his residence in Mumbai. Puri worked in numerous Indian films, as well as many films produced in the United Kingdom and the United States. He has also worked in some notable episodes of the TV series like Aahat, Bharat Ek Khoj, Yatra, Mr. Yogi, Kakaji Kahin, Sea Hawks, Antaral, and Savdhaan India's second season. He made his film debut in the 1976 Marathi film Ghashiram Kotwal. He was awarded Padma Shri in 1990 for his remarkable work. Puri's sudden demise has left the industry and his friends inBollywood shell-shocked.
Om Puri was born on 18th Oct, 1950 in Ambala, Haryana to a Punjabi family. His father worked in the railways and in the Indian Army. Puri married Seema Kapoor, the sister of actor Annu Kapoor, in 1991, but their marriage ended after eight months. In 1993, he married again journalist Nandita Puri, with whom he had a son named Ishaan. Puri graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He was also an alumnus of the 1973 class of National School of Drama where Naseeruddin Shah was a co-student.
