On 28 August, the Supreme Court adjourned the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) tariff order and interconnection regulation case to 5 September. As reported earlier, on 20 July, the SC had admitted Star India’s special leave petition (SLP) challenging the Madras High Court’s ruling that the TRAI has the power to formulate tariff and regulations for the TV broadcasting sector.

On 7 August 2018, the telecom regulator TRAI integrated its Mobile Apps namely DND 2.0 &MyCall with UMANGPlatform.  UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is envisaged to make e-governance. It is developed by National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

On18 July, the telecom regulator TRAI released its latest subscription data till May 2018. As per report, total wireless subscribers (GSM, CDMA & LTE) increased from 1,125.07 million at the end of Apr-18 to 1,131.01 million at the end of May-18, thereby registering a monthly growth rate of 0.53%. The Wireless subscription in urban areas increased from 624.52 million at the end of Apr-18 to 625.66 million at the end of May-18, and wireless subscriptions in rural areas also increased from 500.55 million to 505.34 million during the month. The monthly growth rates of urban and rural wireless subscription were 0.18% and 0.96% respectively.
