Interestingly, Jio has been reducing the ring time for outgoing calls on its network and Airtel has been opposing it to TRAI. However, with TRAI not taking any action, Airtel has taken a step to counter Jio's move.
The telecom major wrote a letter to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) that it is reducing the ring time for outgoing calls on its network. So far, Airtel users have been able to ring for 30 seconds at a stretch. Now, after the amendment, subscribers will only be able to ring for 25 seconds while making calls to any network.
Jio said that it reduced the ring time so as to reduce the burden on its network's bandwidth as well as decongest the network. However, rival operators are crying about Jio's practice and they have been complaining about it to TRAI.
